Vijay has a huge fan base in Tamil Nadu but also in the neighbouring states, especially Kerala, where his fan base is large. So, when Jilla was released on January 10th, 2014, fans from across the state made it to the theatres to catch their idol on the silver screens.
Sources say that Jilla has created a record at the Kerala box office on the day of its release. Screened in 211 theatres across the state, Jilla has grossed 2.62 crores in a single day. This is the highest that any movie had grossed in one single day in Kerala!
