Actor Shaam is the latest to join the cast of the national award-winning director S.P. Jananathan’s Purampokku whose shoot is to commence in about two weeks’ time from now.
The bearded Jananathan has only made three films( Iyarkai, Ee and Peranmai) in a decade’s time and announced the launch of Purampokku with Vijay Sethupathi and Arya in lead roles. Karthika Nair, who has been progressing ratherly slowly in Tamil films, was cast as the solo heroine in the film.It is now reported that Jananathan has roped in Shaam in the film, making it a multistarrer with three heroes who have delivered many hit films as heroes on their own. Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, the shoot of Purampokku is to commence in the chilly environs of Kulu and Manali in the North on 14th January. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the film’s music director.
As per the film’s script, the protagonist’s are friend, a police inspector is after the two as they bend the rules in ensuring that justice is delivered to the poor. While Arya and Vijay play the protagonists, Shaam plays the cop. Story, screenplay and dialogues are penned by Jananathan. After the Kullu-Manali shoot, the crew would move on to places such as Jaipur, Bikaner, Pokhran and Jaisalmer before landing up in Chennai to shoot the climax.
